The General Officer Commanding (GOC), 82 Division of the Nigerian Army, Maj.-Gen. Oluremi Ayobami Fadairo, has pledged enhanced security operations across the South-East.
He made the commitment during his maiden operational tours of the 13 and 14 Brigades and other units under the Division’s Area of Responsibility.
The GOC also paid a courtesy visit to Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti.
A statement by the Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, Lt.-Col. Olabisi Olalekan Ayeni, said the visit featured operational briefings, commissioning of projects, and interactions with officers and soldiers — all underscoring Fadairo’s commitment to professionalism, operational excellence, and troops’ welfare.
Addressing Governor Otti and heads of security agencies at the Abia Government House, Fadairo stressed the importance of synergy among security formations. He advocated for a joint security summit involving South-East governors and security chiefs to boost regional collaboration.
He assured the governor of renewed strategies aimed at consolidating past gains and strengthening ongoing operations.
Fadairo also commissioned projects executed under Brig.-Gen. M.O. Ibrahim, including the General O.O. Oluyede Hall, a modern multi-purpose facility, and two units of transit accommodation for soldiers.
At 14 Brigade, he charged troops to remain patriotic, professional, and respectful of law-abiding citizens, while working seamlessly with sister agencies.
He conveyed the commendation of the Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. W. Shaibu, to commanders and troops for their gallantry in degrading separatist elements and other criminal groups.
Fadairo reassured personnel of the Army’s continued commitment to their welfare during service and after retirement. He urged them to remain loyal to the Commander-in-Chief and to continue giving their best in defence of the nation.
