Gani Adams, the Aareonakakanfo of Yoruba land, has praised President Bola Tinubu for his various reform initiatives, stating that the president has started on the right footing. In a statement released by his Special Assistant on Media, Adams highlighted that Tinubu’s recent actions demonstrate his control over the policy direction of his administration.
Adams also commended the appointment of the Service Chiefs, emphasizing that it reflects the president’s commitment to the principle of federal character and inclusivity across the six geopolitical zones of the nation.
Expressing optimism, Adams stated that Tinubu’s early initiatives have generated high expectations among Nigerians. He emphasized that leadership is about serving the people, and Tinubu has displayed determination through his reform efforts since assuming office as the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces.
Addressing the Nigerian economy and education sector, Adams outlined an agenda for the first six months of Tinubu’s administration. He proposed a monthly stipend of N15,000 for unemployed Nigerians, benefiting 10 million individuals, to cover their living expenses and house rents until they secure employment. Adams suggested that 65% of the stipend should go to unemployed Nigerians, while 35% should be allocated to children between the ages of one and 18, senior citizens above the age of 65 who are not on pension, and physically challenged Nigerians. He proposed funding this initiative through a special tax on multinational companies and other investors, with the establishment of a Special Revenue Generation Committee to determine the modalities.
Adams also highlighted the need to address illegal mining across the country, emphasizing the loss of billions of dollars annually due to this issue. He suggested tackling this menace through the use of force, legal sanctions, and the establishment of a committee empowered to halt illegal mining activities. Adams called on state governments to support the new education loan for tertiary institutions and ensure free education at the sub-national level.
Furthermore, he urged the Tinubu government to collaborate with the National Assembly to bring about comprehensive police reform and address insecurity and crime. Adams advocated for the opening of land borders with effective security measures, reducing tariffs on imported goods, encouraging manufacturers to bring in necessary raw materials, and implementing measures to strengthen the Nigerian currency and control forex.
In conclusion, Gani Adams expressed his confidence in Tinubu’s ability to lead an inclusive government and tackle the challenges facing the country effectively.
