The Rivers State Government has dismissed reports suggesting that Governor Siminalayi Fubara is at loggerheads with the Rivers State House of Assembly over the 2026 Appropriation Bill.
The government, in a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Onwuka Nzeshi, on August 12, 2026, described the reports as misleading and urged the public to disregard the insinuations of a disagreement between the Executive and Legislative arms of government.
According to the statement, Governor Fubara is working closely with members of the State House of Assembly in the interest of the people of Rivers State.
The government explained that the 2026 Budget proposal has already been presented to the House of Assembly and is currently undergoing the normal legislative process.
It expressed confidence that the lawmakers would complete the process and pass the budget in due course.
The state government also appealed to individuals and groups promoting what it described as negative narratives to desist, stressing that Rivers State needs peace, stability and harmony to sustain its development.
The government recalled the difficult political experiences the state had gone through in the past, saying it was not prepared to be dragged into another round of controversies.
It therefore urged all stakeholders to support efforts aimed at maintaining peace and ensuring steady development across the state.
