FG, ICRC to host landmark PPP summit in Abuja

    Published on

The Federal Government, through the Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission (ICRC), has announced plans to hold a significant Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Summit in Abuja.

Themed ‘Unlocking Nigeria’s potential: The role of public-private partnerships in delivering the Renewed Hope Agenda,’ the two-day summit, which begins June 17–18, will bring together top government officials, global investors, financial institutions, and private sector leaders, for what the organisers described as a “high-level engagement on real-time infrastructure delivery.”

Director General of the ICRC, Dr. Jobson Oseodion Ewalefoh, said the Summit will go beyond speeches and declarations to practical steps that unlock capital and mobilize resources for visible, impactful development.

“What makes this Summit different is that it is not just about speeches. We are converging to dismantle bottlenecks, unlock capital, and create impact that Nigerians can see and touch—from power lines to rail tracks, from hospital corridors to broadband cables, transportation, agriculture, education, and tourism,” Ewalefoh stated.

He noted that under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, the federal government is repositioning PPPs as a primary tool for bridging the infrastructure gap in a sustainable and inclusive way.

“The PPP Summit will demonstrate to the world that Nigeria is no longer waiting for change; we are building it, financing it, and delivering it in real time,” he added.

The event will officially open at the State House Banquet Hall and feature a keynote address by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Dr Benedict Oramah, president of AfreximBank, will also give a special presentation. Senior leaders from the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and the African Development Bank (AfDB) are also anticipated to send goodwill notes.

On the second day, participants will move to the Congress Hall of the Transcorp Hilton for a series of technical sessions and panel discussions focusing on priority infrastructure corridors in transportation, energy, housing, and technology.

The programme will spotlight Nigeria’s successful PPP ventures such as the Lekki Deep Sea Port, while drawing lessons from international case studies like Cape Verde’s Wind Power Project and the Sene-Gambia Bridge in Senegal.

The Summit’s collaborative format will be one of its main features. To develop infrastructure solutions, government representatives and business investors will collaborate, departing from conventional top-down methods. Participants will also include industry leaders from Afreximbank, Africa50, PAC Capital, Norrenberger, Financial Derivatives, AFC, and KPMG.

The Director General of the ICRC, Ewalefoh, also emphasised the Summit’s aim to open new channels of investment and turn policy dialogue into bankable projects.

Participants can anticipate exclusive networking opportunities, forward-thinking discussions, and a platform for concluding feasible transactions, a bold move that reinforces PPPs as a cornerstone of the Tinubu administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

The Summit is expected to be an important milestone in Nigeria’s efforts to use partnerships to create next-generation infrastructure.
