FCT Police arrest 3 wanted notorious bandits

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command said it has arrested three wanted notorious bandits around Wukushi -Mpape which borders FCT and Rijana in Kaduna state.

Commissioner of Police for the FCT, CP Ajao Saka Adewale who disclosed this, said the wanted notorious bandits were arrested by operatives of the command, after acting on strategic directive from him.

He said the arrest was carried out on Saturday, at the heels of an actionable intelligence and a well-coordinated operation led by ACP Victor O. Godfrey, spanning Wukushi -Mpape in the FCT and Rijana, Kaduna State.

The CP identified the arrested wanted bandits as Abdulkadir Abubakar, a resident of Mpape in FCT, Mohammed Tasiu Sani, from Rijana, Kaduna State, and Suleiman Jibrin from Sabon-Gaya, Kaduna State.

He said the suspects were known to operate deadly camps within the forests of Kachia and Rijana in Kaduna State, in which he said victims were held captive for extended periods.

According to him, the suspects were also linked to several kidnapping incidents across Jere, Kajuru, and parts of the Federal Capital Territory.

CP Adewale, however, said that an operational motorcycle, commonly referred to as a “Boko Haram motorcycle,” was recovered during the operation, saying efforts are ongoing to recover more weapons and arrest of other fleeing accomplices.

“The suspects are currently in custody and are assisting the police with further investigations to dismantle their criminal network. And their arrest has marked a significant stride in the command’s effort to restore peace and security across the territory,” he said.

The police commissioner, therefore, appreciated the resilience and bravery of the police operatives, even as he urged residents to continue to support the police with credible information in the fight against criminality.
