The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has expressed that residents of Abuja are pleased with President Bola Tinubu due to the visible progress and development across the capital.
Speaking during a media chat on Friday, the former Rivers State governor credited Tinubu’s leadership with ushering in a wave of infrastructural transformation and effective governance in the FCT.
Wike claimed that his administration has achieved more in under two years than the previous FCT administration did in eight.
“People are amazed, asking if this level of transformation is really possible in less than two years,” Wike said. “We were here for eight years and barely saw progress. Now, just look around—if we’ve done this much already, imagine what we can achieve in four years.”
He highlighted his interactions with residents as evidence of public satisfaction. “Everywhere I go, the excitement is clear. I was recently in Kwali, on the A2 road towards Lokoja. The warm welcome I got showed how appreciative the people are. The improvements from Pai to Gomani are there for all to see. In Bwari, the ongoing Gaba/Tokulo road project is another example of our commitment to underserved communities. These areas have never seen this level of attention from the government before.”
Addressing the high cost of the ongoing renovation of the International Conference Centre (ICC), Wike justified the spending, saying it reflects the premium quality of work being delivered.
“Yes, the project is expensive, but that’s because we’re insisting on top-tier standards. By May, I invite Nigerians to see the results for themselves. I believe they’ll be proud of what has been accomplished,” he added.
