A tragic road accident yesterday (Sunday) at the Maitama area of Abuja, which involved a newly purchased vehicle, has left one person dead and another permanently maimed.
The driver, an alleged internet fraudster, who caused the crash that fatally struck a suya seller, and severed one of the legs of his passenger girlfriend, was said to be enjoying his newly bought with his girlfriend and another female friend, when
the accident occurred.
The trio were allegedly travelling at high speed when the driver lost control of the vehicle, causing a devastating crash that split the car into two.
During the incident, a man who sold suya by the roadside was also struck and killed on the spot.
The crash also left the three occupants with varying degrees of injuries.
While the suspected Yahoo boy and his girlfriend reportedly sustained minor injuries, their female friend suffered a much more serious fate, as she lost one of her legs in the accident.
The injured occupants were rushed to a hospital for medical attention.
What began as an exciting outing to celebrate a new car, quickly turned into a heartbreaking incident, leaving one family mourning the loss of a loved one and another young woman facing a life-changing injury.
The incident serves as a painful reminder of the dangers of excessive speeding and reckless driving.
”A moment of carelessness behind the wheel can have devastating consequences, not only for those inside a vehicle, but also for innocent people going about their daily activities,” a witness said.

A new car meant to bring excitement and celebration instead became the centre of a tragedy that cost one man his life, and changed another person’s life forever,” another witness spewed.
As at the time of filing this report, there was no police or road safety personnel at the scene of the accident.
But the circumstances surrounding the crash, including the identities of those involved and the exact location, would need to be confirmed by the relevant authorities.
