‎The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has officially revived its monthly fitness exercise and staff engagement session, aiming to boost physical health, mental stability, and service delivery among its workforce.

    ‎

    ‎

‎Led by Nancy Sabanti Nathan, the Acting Head of Service of the FCT Civil Service, the newly restored maiden event brought together management, union leaders, and staff from various secretariats, departments, and agencies across the territory.

    ‎

‎Speaking at the event on Saturday, Sabanti Nathan explained that the initiative is designed to celebrate life, the country, the President, and the FCT Minister for their stellar performance.

    ‎

    ‎

‎She noted that the revived fitness drive prepares staff for the ‘last lap’ of the year to support key administrative goals, including infrastructure delivery, health, education, transport, and sanitation.

    ‎

    ‎

‎”We are currently in the last quarter of the year, and we must remain proactive, stay energetic, and sustain our momentum,” she stated, highlighting that major project commissioning ceremonies are slated for December 2026.

    ‎

    ‎

‎According to her, the Education Secretariat will officially host the November 2026 edition.

    ‎

‎She noted that building on the success of the initial walk, there are plans to expand the walking distance from 3 kilometers to 5 kilometers and beyond in upcoming sessions.

    ‎

    ‎

‎She added that future monthly editions are set to incorporate medical check-ups, aerobics, and cultural displays.

    ‎

    ‎

‎On his part, the Acting Executive Secretary of the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA), Engineer Richard Yunana Dauda, commended the revival of the initiative, noting that it addresses preventable health challenges associated with sedentary office work.

    ‎

    ‎

‎”When you have a workforce that is healthy, you achieve much more,” the FCDA ES remarked, emphasising the importance of physical, mental, and emotional stability for effective service delivery.

    ‎

‎He added that the FCDA and other secretariats have already made reservations to host upcoming editions.

    ‎

‎Echoing management’s sentiments, Comrade Rifkatu Iortyer, President of the Joint Unions Action Congress of FCTA/FCDA, lauded the administration for resurrecting the wellness program.

    ‎

    ‎

‎She encouraged union members to turn out in even greater numbers for future sessions, while also relaying staff appeals for continued administrative support regarding critical welfare concerns such as accommodation and transportation.
