Enugu police probe alleged ritual murder

    Published on

A suspected ritual murder has happened in a hotel located in the Ibagwa Road Area of Nsukka, in Enugu State.

The incident reportedly occurred over the weekend at the Madoka Hotel, located at Obukpa Layout, in Ibagwa Road, in the University of Nigeria town of Nsukka.

A source said the lady checked in the previous day with a young man, little did she know it was the end of her life journey on earth.

Viral reports on social media claimed the young man lodged with a lady, but in the morning when he came out alone, the hotel staff members asked him about his female partner.

According to the source, “He told them that the lady had left earlier, and that she is a prostitute.

“Unknowing that he was lying, the receptionists believed him; they were newly employed, so they acted out of ignorance.”

He, however, added that minutes later when the cleaners went to the room, “they shockingly discovered that the lady had been murdered.

“The culprit, who is now on the run, murdered her, removed vital body parts, then placed the mattress on her body and covered it with bed spread.”

To further compound the matter, it was also discovered that the phone number the male guest supplied while checking in was fake.

However, when contacted, the spokesman of the Enugu State Police Command, SP Daniel Ndukwe described the ritual claims as untrue.

Ndukwe said a murder case had been established but the reports of a mutilated body were untrue., “There was never anything as such on her as mutilation or body parts missing, not at all.

“Obviously, she was murdered, but the claims of ritual and removal of body parts as being peddled is total falsehood.

“Everything is intact; we suspect murder, but obviously not as par ritual, mutilation and all that.”
