The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has called on Nigerian youths to actively participate in the fight against corruption. Speaking at a town hall in Kano on Thursday to mark the 2024 International Anti-Corruption Day, EFCC Executive Chairman Mr. Ola Olukoyode, represented by Zonal Director Ibrahim Shazali, emphasized the importance of youth involvement in anti-corruption activities.

Olukoyode urged progress-minded youths to lend their voices and support to the EFCC’s initiatives. He highlighted the importance of the Integrity Club for primary and secondary school students, and the Zero Tolerance Club for those in tertiary institutions. These platforms aim to engage young people in promoting accountability and combating corruption.

“Youths can also play a crucial role by exposing corrupt practices in their communities,” Olukoyode said, stressing the importance of whistleblowing as a tool in the fight against corruption.

The town hall included contributions from civil society organizations (CSOs), members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), and National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members, who discussed the ongoing challenges in tackling corruption and offered suggestions for improvement.
