EEDC unveils quick response team to fast-track fault resolution

The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) has unveiled a Quick Response Team QRT, a dedicated unit of technical specialists charged with diagnosing and repairing electricity faults faster across its distribution network.
The company announced the initiative on its official X handle, describing the QRT as “a dedicated squad of technical experts trained to resolve power faults efficiently and in record time.” The team is to be mobilised whenever a fault is reported, with the stated goal of cutting outage durations and reducing disruption for households and businesses within its franchise areas.
EEDC did not provide specifics on the size of the team or measurable response-time benchmarks, but said the unit’s focus would be swift fault diagnosis and repair. Customers were encouraged to report issues promptly through the company’s existing contact channels to enable faster dispatch.
“You don’t have to wait around in the dark,” the company said in its post, urging residents to follow its X account for service updates and progress notices.
The launch comes against a backdrop of persistent customer complaints about intermittent power supply in parts of EEDC’s coverage area, and is being positioned as part of wider efforts by distribution companies to lift service reliability and rebuild public confidence.
Industry observers have welcomed faster fault response as a step that can help limit economic losses tied to outages, while cautioning that durable improvements will ultimately hinge on upstream factors — including generation capacity, transmission network stability, and sustained infrastructure investment — that lie beyond the distribution companies’ direct control.
