    Education District IV Hosts Spectacular 2023/2024 Music and Sports Festival

    Education District IV recently dazzled attendees with its annual Music and Sports Festival held at Ansar-Ud-Deen Grammar School in Randle Surulere, Lagos. Mr. Olusegun Osinaike, the Tutor-General/Permanent Secretary, emphasized that the festival’s primary goal was to showcase and celebrate the diverse talents within District IV, spanning academics, entertainment, and sports.

    During the event, Mr. Osinaike praised the outstanding achievements of the flourishing District, expressing gratitude to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for fostering an environment conducive to sports development in schools. He also commended the unwavering support of Mr. Jamiu Ali Balogun, the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education.

    Top athletes in each sports category were promised a cash prize of ₦25,000 each, along with opportunities to participate in local and international sporting events/trials.

    Representatives from the three zones of the District – Apapa, Mainland, and Surulere – engaged in various athletic competitions, including the 100m and 200m races, high jump, and more. The competition was fierce, and the crowd was thrilled by the display of talent.

    After an intense battle, the final results were as follows:
    – Mainland secured the 4th position with 2 Gold, 4 Silver, and 5 Bronze medals.
    – Apapa Zone clinched the 3rd position with 3 Gold, 6 Silver, and 3 Bronze Medals.
    – Surulere I earned the 2nd position with 7 Gold, 4 Silver, and 7 Bronze medals.
    – Surulere II emerged as the overall champion with 8 Gold, 6 Silver, and 5 Bronze medals.

    Dignitaries present at the event included Honourable Desmond Eliot, Member Lagos State House of Assembly; Mr. Bolaji Abayomi, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Basic & Secondary Education; Mrs. Anike Adekanye, Tutor-General/Permanent Secretary Education District II; Mrs. Shereefat Yusuff, Tutor-General/Permanent Secretary Education District IV; and Mr. Amusan Oluwatobi, representing the Chairman of SUBEB, Honourable Hakeem Shittu, among others. The festival served as a vibrant platform to celebrate the multifaceted talents of the students in Education District IV.
