The Lady Division of the Benin Club Golf Section (BCGS) on Tuesday paid a courtesy visit to the Executive Chairman of the Edo State Sports Commission, Hon. Amadin Desmond Enabulele, at his office in Benin City.
Leading the delegation, the Lady Captain, Mrs. Stella Ajayi, explained that the purpose of the visit was to discuss the upcoming Ladies Open Golf Championship, its significance, and the need for financial support.
She noted that the championship, scheduled for October 9–12, 2025, is not only a competition but also an avenue to foster unity, build partnerships, and provide women golfers with a platform to showcase their skills.
Also speaking, the wife of the former Deputy Governor of Edo State, Mrs. Maryann Phillip-Shaibu, emphasized the importance of the annual tournament in grooming future champions. She noted that the competition attracts golfers from across Nigeria and beyond, and called for a stronger partnership with the Commission—beyond donations, toward full participation.
In his remarks, Hon. Enabulele commended the Lady Division’s initiative and expressed gratitude for the opportunity to collaborate. He assured the delegation of the Commission’s full support for the championship, stressing that the event aligns with Governor Monday Okpebholo’s vision for sports development in Edo State.
“We will work closely with the organizers to ensure the tournament’s success,” Enabulele affirmed.
Present at the meeting was Mrs. Sabrina Chikere, Executive Director, Sports Development and Operations at the Commission. Other members of the delegation included Mrs. Joy Omorogiuwa, Mrs. Betty Oriakhi, Mrs. Edeki Edith, Mrs. Ehinomwen Igbinadolor, and Mrs. Nora Ucheagwu.
