Nigerian forward, Rafiu Durosinmi has been hit with a two-match suspension following his dismissal during Pisa’s Serie A encounter with Cagliari.
Rafiu Durosinmi, 21, saw red in the 37th minute after an off-the-ball incident. He was adjudged to have kicked an opponent while play was stopped, leading to a straight dismissal for violent conduct.
The ban rules him out of upcoming league fixtures against Como and Torino.
Pisa remain deep in the relegation fight and sit 19th on the table, with Durosinmi’s absence a blow at a critical stage of the campaign.
Meanwhile, Steve Nicol has cautioned that Liverpool should not be seen as clear favourites in their UEFA Champions League tie against Galatasaray.
The Turkish side hold a 1-0 advantage from the first leg at RAMS Park, with Victor Osimhen posing a constant threat despite not getting on the scoresheet.
Osimhen came close to doubling the lead in that match, only for his effort to be ruled out for offside. His presence, Nicol said, changes the complexion of the tie.
“Liverpool have just capitulated against what is currently the worst team in the Premier League,” Nicol remarked.
“And they are 1-nil down to Galatasaray, who have a player like Osimhen upfront, capable of winning any match single-handedly with a moment of magic and brilliance.
“I cannot comprehend how Liverpool can be such a significant favourite after what we witnessed over the weekend.”
Osimhen has been central to Galatasaray’s European run, registering seven goals and three assists in nine appearances. He also scored in the earlier meeting between the two sides in the competition.
