The Delta State Police Command has vehemently refuted claims circulating on certain social media platforms alleging that the State Commissioner of Youths, Mr. Agbateyiniro Weyinmi, was apprehended with a sack containing firearms.
In a statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Bright Edafe, the command dismissed the reports as entirely false. The statement clarified that there were unfounded allegations suggesting that the Commissioner of Youth was discovered in possession of a sack containing guns, which were purportedly handed over to the Ekpan Police Station, while the commissioner allegedly retained four firearms.
The statement further elucidated that the fabricated report also insinuated that the commissioner instructed one of his associates to use the guns to perpetrate the murder of a police officer in Delta State.
Upon thorough examination of the write-up, the command concluded that the writer was engaging in mischievous activities, and the command refrained from engaging in a debate with such an individual.
However, for the sake of clarity and to keep the public informed, the command emphasized that no such incident had occurred within its jurisdiction. It labeled the write-up as not only mischievous but also laughable.
Members of the public were urged to disregard the publication entirely, as it was deemed misleading and mischievous. The intent behind fabricating such a false and nonexistent incident was deemed known only to the writer.
Additionally, the public, media, and journalists were advised to verify such publications directly from the Delta State Police Command through its Public Relations Officer to ensure accurate information dissemination.
Commissioner of Police Delta State, Abaniwonda Olufemi, issued a stern warning that the command would not tolerate any dissemination of false or misleading news by individuals with malicious intent. Any perpetrator found guilty of such actions would face identification, arrest, and prosecution in accordance with the law.
