A butcher at Swali Market in Yenagoa, Bayelsa, Mr. Onumogbu Kelechi popularly known as KC has debunked the rumours in social media that.he is dead after a purported attack by personnel of the Bayelsa Volunteers.
Bayelsa Volunteers is a vigilance group established by Bayelsa government to complement the efforts of security agencies in combating crime.
KC said on Friday, that he was moved to put the records straight and dispel the false narrative that he was dead.
He noted that doing so will absolve the Bayelsa Volunteers led by Chief Lucky Asanakpo, of any complicity in the incident, following rumours that he was dead after he was attacked.
He noted that it was the officials of Bayelsa Volunteers deployed to the market that rescued him from the stampede that ensued.
He explained that sequel to tension caused by cultists terrorising the Swali community, he was rescued after he fell down while scampering to safety.
KC said: “My name is Onumogbu Kelechi ThankGod, alias KC, I sincerely wish to thank High Chief Lucky Asanakpo, Chairman of the Bayelsa State Volunteers, for standing by me after a minor misunderstanding at the Swali Market on the 22nd of September.
“On that fateful day, I was running and fell down and sustained minor injuries, it was Asanakpo that took me to the hospital and ensured that I got the best possible medical attention and later offsetted the medical bills. I was never dead as rumoured.
“I kindly urge the general public to disregard any misleading information regarding the incident. High Chief Lucky Asanakpo is a good man, and he is doing a great job with the Bayelsa Volunteers. They are the reason that the market is safe and there is order and decorum.
“Their job is to maintain order and safety. I was never attacked by the Volunteers and I pray that the Almighty Lord continue to protect Asanakpo so he can continue with his good works with the Bayelsa Volunteers.”
