Leadership of Labour Party in Bayelsà has described as “good riddance to bad rubbish” the purported claims of defection of Miss Helen Ajoku to the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The Labour Party, in a statement issued on Thursday by the National Deputy Women Leader, Enu Timipre, the claims by Miss Helen Ajoku that she defected with thousands of women in the state is false and misleading.

The party, in the statement tagged “Re: Defection Claims by Miss Helen Ajoku”, stated that “The attention of the Labour Party, Bayelsa State Chapter, has been drawn to claims made by Miss Helen Ajoku, a former member who was granted a leadership platform within the party.

“Miss Ajoku has not only elected to leave the Labour Party but has also chosen to disparage the same platform that afforded her political visibility.

“In her recent assertions, she claimed to have left the Labour Party Bayelsa State with “all the women” to another political party. We categorically state that this claim is false and misleading.Miss Ajoku did not leave with women from the Labour Party Bayelsa State as falsely reported.

“We consider her exit a case of “good riddance to bad rubbish.” To the National Democratic Congress (NDC), we willingly hand over this baggage of trouble for you to inherit.

“For the avoidance of doubt, the Labour Party Bayelsa State, under the leadership of Hon. Eneyi Zidougha and the watchful eyes of the National Deputy Woman Leader, remains intact, formidable, and steadfast.”

“The structure of the party in the State is unshaken and committed to its ideals. We reaffirm our unwavering loyalty to the National Chairman. Julius Abure, and the entire National Working Committee of the Labour Party.”
