The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has issued a statement on Wednesday, assuring depositors of the safety of their funds amidst concerns raised by certain media outlets regarding a recommendation for the Federal Government to take over some CBN-supervised financial institutions.

Hakama Sidi-Ali, Ag. Director of Corporate Communications at the CBN, emphasized that Nigerian banks remain safe and sound. The CBN urged the public to continue their regular activities without being alarmed by reports that did not originate from the CBN regarding the health status of Nigerian banks.

The CBN emphasized that it is fully prepared to fulfill its statutory duty of maintaining a stable financial system in Nigeria. They assured the general public and depositors that their funds are secure in Nigerian financial institutions.

Bank customers were advised to carry out their banking transactions as usual, as there is no cause for concern.
