Pope Francis was reportedly born on December 17, 1936, in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
The Catholic leader passed away on Monday (today), according to a brief message posted by the Vatican on its 𝕏 handle.

It stated that Pope Francis passed away at the age of 88 on Easter Monday, April 21, 2025, in his home in the Vatican’s Casa Santa Marta.

James David Vance, the vice president of the United States of America, met privately with Pope Francis in the Casa Santa Marta just after 11:30 a.m. on Easter Sunday.

The meeting lasted a few minutes and provided an opportunity to exchange Easter pleasantries, according to the Holy See Press Office.
” Vance, who is traveling to Italy with his family, was greeted by Cardinal Secretary of State Pietro Parolin and Secretary for Relations with States and International Organizations Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher on Saturday morning when he arrived at the Secretariat of State.

The Holy See Press Office said that a friendly discussion was held during which the shared commitment to defend the rights of religious freedom and freedom of conscience was reaffirmed. Additionally, opinions on the global situation were shared, with an emphasis on war-torn nations, political unrest, and challenging humanitarian circumstances. Special attention was paid to migrants, refugees, and prisoners.

Cardinal Claudio Gugerotti, prefect of the Dicastery for the Eastern Churches, presided over the Celebration of the Lord’s Passion in Saint Peter’s Basilica on Good Friday afternoon, which the US vice president, his wife, and their three children attended.
