Bishop Kukah Criticizes Buhari’s Administration for Rampant Corruption

    Published on

During the 60th anniversary celebration of Chief Afe Babalola’s call to the bar in Ado Ekiti, Bishop Matthew Kukah of the Sokoto Catholic Diocese delivered a speech in which he expressed his disappointment with the level of corruption witnessed during ex-President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration. The cleric, known for his outspoken criticism of the government’s handling of security and economic challenges, lamented the prevalence of corruption under Buhari’s watch.

Bishop Kukah highlighted that the country experienced a particularly troubling phase of corruption during the previous administration, referring to published articles by Femi Falana on the matter. He emphasized the moral, financial, and other dimensions of corruption that plagued the nation during that time.

In light of these concerns, the cleric urged the current administration to prioritize democracy and foster development in the best interest of the Nigerian people.

Responding to Bishop Kukah’s remarks, Femi Adesina, the former spokesperson for President Buhari, indirectly criticized the bishop on Twitter, suggesting that Kukah’s statements were driven by personal grievances rather than objective analysis.
