    Bayelsa Education Fund inaugurates Sick bay, Water project in 2 schools

    The Bayelsa State Education Development Trust Fund (BYEDTF) on Thursday inaugurated a Sick bay and Water project at two public boarding schools at Kolokuma-Opokuma Local Government Area in Bayelsa.

    The Sick bay was donated to Ijaw National Academy Kaima while the Water project was donated to Kaima Grammar School within the LGA.

    Speaking at the event, Dr Gentle Emelah, Commissioner of Education in Bayelsa noted that the state prioritises the health and education of the citezens.

     

    Emelah, who was represented by a Director in the Ministry, Mrs Biboere Ogola noted that the medical facility with a consulting room, male and female wards will cate for minor health needs of students.

     

    The commission expressed appreciation to Gov Douye Diri of Bayelsa for sustaining the BYEDTF , established by his predecessor, Sen. Seriake Dickson.

     

    Dr Alice Atuwo, Executive Secretary of BYEDTF in her remarks noted that the Sick bay was necessary to ensure the health of students.

     

    She explained that facility has a medical doctor, pharmacist and nurses and stock of essential drugs to treat minor ailments and urged parents to pick up their children when the ailment is major.

     

    Speaking at the inuaguration of the water project at Kaima Grammar School, Prof Francis Sikoki, Acting Chairman of BYEDTF board applauded the host community for protecting facilities.

     

    Sikoki noted that Kaima communities were examplary in protecting social amenities provided by government whereas other communities vandalised government facilities in their areas.

     

    Sikoki handed over the sick bay and water project to the Principals of the benefitting boarding schools with a charge to them to ensure judicious use.

     

    Receiving keys to the sick bay, Mr Desmond Tamgbe, Principal of Ijaw National Academy thanked the BYEDTF for the project and previous gestures and assured that the facility would be out to good use.

     

    The Paramount Ruler in Kaiama, His Royal Highness Jerry Brotolu expressed appreciation to Gov Diri who hails from the LGA for the gestures to the two schools.

     

    The traditional ruler urged the benefitting students to guard the facilities jealously and raise the alerm wheners their is any threath of vandalism.

     

    In a goodwill message, Dr Daniel Charles, Chairman, Bayelsa Assembly Committee on Education commended the management of the BYEDTF for the judicious use of funds at their disposal.

     

    He noted that the legislature was ready to provide further support haven been satisfied with the performance of the agency
