Bangladesh’s army chief, Waker-Uz-Zaman, has announced plans to establish an interim government following the resignation of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. The resignation comes amid significant unrest, with protests escalating to the point where Hasina fled the capital.

In a televised address, Waker-Uz-Zaman confirmed that the army would take steps to form a transitional government to manage the country’s affairs. This development follows a period of intense anti-government demonstrations that have led to widespread disruption.

The situation in Dhaka and other parts of the country remains tense, with a curfew in place and military personnel deployed to maintain order. Further details on the formation of the interim government and its objectives are expected to be announced soon.
