Nigerian-American actress, writer, and stand-up comedian, Ayo Edebiri, clinched the award for Best Actress in a Comedy Series at the 2024 Critics Choice Awards. Edebiri received the accolade for her portrayal of Sydney Adamu in the Hulu series “The Bear,” which delves into the intricacies of a local sandwich joint evolving into a culinary establishment resembling Michelin-starred restaurants in elite New York.

Expressing her gratitude upon receiving the award, Edebiri thanked the critics, the show’s cast and crew, and the writers. In her speech, she also extended her appreciation to her family in Barbados, Nigeria, and humorously mentioned Ireland, alluding to a previous interview where she playfully used an Irish accent when discussing her role in the film “The Banshees of Inisherin.”

Edebiri’s recent win follows her success earlier in the month at the 2024 Golden Globe Awards, where she received the Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series, Musical, or Comedy for the same role in “The Bear.”

Departing from the Prada dress she wore to the Oscars, Edebiri opted for a white pant suit from The Row, complemented by stylish dark sunglasses.

Additionally, Edebiri is nominated for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series at the upcoming Emmy Awards for her performance in “The Bear.”
