The Benue State Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Dr. Benjamin Ashaver, has pledged the ministry’s commitment to partnering with the National Brand Development and Made-in-Nigeria Special Project (PNBDP), Benue State Chapter, to promote Made-in-Benue products on the global stage.
Dr. Ashaver made this known in Makurdi while receiving a delegation from PNBDP, led by the State Coordinator, Hon. Ikon Oraduen, popularly known as OD Woods, during a courtesy visit to his office.
The commissioner commended the initiative for projecting Benue State positively through the promotion of its unique products and agricultural potential. He noted that collaboration between the ministry and the organization would further strengthen efforts to expand the reach of Benue products to wider markets.
According to him, the planned launch of a special Benue Rice brand would mark a major milestone in the state government’s efforts to combat hunger and position Benue as a key player in global food production.
Dr. Ashaver assured the delegation of the ministry’s readiness to work closely with the initiative, as well as the Director-General of BNAGRO, Pharm. Peter Chieshe, to actualize the vision of the project in line with the agricultural development goals of the state.
He emphasized that the administration of Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia remains committed to collaborating with relevant stakeholders to ensure that agricultural produce and livestock from Benue State are effectively showcased to attract both local and international investment.
Earlier, the State Programme Coordinator of the initiative, Hon. Ikon Oraduen, said the visit was aimed at formally introducing the project team to the ministry and seeking collaboration and technical support for its successful implementation.
He explained that the initiative focuses on identifying and promoting goods and services produced in Benue State, increasing their visibility, encouraging patronage, and creating investment opportunities, particularly within the agricultural sector.
According to him, the project is designed to market Benue-origin products—especially agricultural produce—to attract direct and indirect investments that will boost productivity and improve livelihoods across the state.
Those present at the meeting included the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Pharm. Elijah Ogaagbenu, the Director of Livestock and Veterinary Services, Dr. Gabriel Amase, and the Director of Planning, Research and Statistics, Mr. Edache Enichola.
