Armed Forces Remembrance Day: Your sacrifice not abstract – APC chairman to soldiers

    Published on

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Nentawe Yilwatda, has paid tribute to members of Nigeria’s Armed Forces who lost their lives in the line of duty, describing their sacrifice as the foundation of the nation’s unity, democracy, and progress.

In a post on X, Yilwatda said the fallen soldiers gave their lives to ensure that Nigeria remains united, safe, and free.

He noted that their sacrifices were deeply personal, as they left behind families, aspirations, and futures in service to the country.

Yilwatda paid tributes to Armed Forces personnel who died on battlefields, during peacekeeping missions, and in the ongoing efforts to safeguard Nigeria’s sovereignty, adding that their courage continues to endure in the peace and stability the nation seeks to sustain.

The APC chairman also expressed solidarity with wounded soldiers, veterans living with the scars of service, and families of fallen heroes who bear both pride and grief.

Yilwatda stressed that Nigeria must never forget that its democracy and national progress are anchored on the selflessness and bravery of its military personnel, whose dedication exemplifies sacrifice, duty, and love for country.

He prayed for the repose of the souls of the departed heroes and called on Nigerians to let their memories inspire greater patriotism, unity, and commitment to building a stronger and more secure nation.

He wrote: “Today, we pause as a nation to remember, honour, and salute the brave men and women of our Armed Forces who laid down their lives in defence of Nigeria.

“Their sacrifices were not abstract; they were personal. They left behind families, dreams, and futures so that our country could stand united, safe, and free.

“Many never returned home, yet their courage continues to live on in the peace we strive to preserve and the nation we continue to build.

“On this solemn day, we remember the fallen heroes who paid the supreme price on the battlefields, in peacekeeping missions, and in the daily struggle to protect our sovereignty.

“We also stand in solidarity with the wounded, the veterans who still bear the scars of service, and the families whose hearts carry both pride and pain.

“As a party and as a nation, we must never forget that our democracy, unity, and progress are anchored on the selflessness of these gallant officers and soldiers.

“Their bravery reminds us that nationhood is sustained by sacrifice, duty, and love for country.”
