APC summit to reflect on 10 years of national leadership

    Published on

A major summit scheduled for December 8 at the NAF Conference Centre in Abuja will mark a decade of APC governance in Nigeria, organisers say, promising a comprehensive review of achievements and a blueprint for the party’s progressive agenda going forward.

The event — framed as the “Summit of the Progressives” and convened by the Bola Tinubu Legacy Conference in conjunction with the Progressives Rights Group and the Buhari New Media Centre — aims to assess the APC’s record since it first assumed national leadership in 2015. Ismaeel Ahmad, chairman of the organising committee, said the program will feature keynote speeches, policy panels, fireside chats, documentary presentations and sectoral reviews covering economic transformation, national security, social investment, energy transition, and infrastructure.

“This is both a reflective and forward-looking gathering,” Ahmad said in a statement. “We will examine milestones and lessons learned, and chart a renewed direction for progressive governance.”

The summit organisers say the event will assemble party leaders, policymakers, technocrats and civil society representatives as well as media and international observers. A series of panels will probe policy outcomes, from fiscal reforms and infrastructure rollouts to security strategies and social programs.

While the APC will spotlight signature interventions, critics are expected to use the platform to question outcomes on inflation, unemployment, corruption challenges and persistent security gaps. Organisers insist the conversations will remain substantive, emphasising constructive critique as a tool for renewal.

For the APC, the summit serves dual political functions: an opportunity to consolidate the party’s narrative ahead of the 2027 elections and a chance to re-energise the progressive coalition through intellectual debate and policy reaffirmation. How convincingly the summit marries political messaging with demonstrable policy achievements will shape public perceptions as Nigerians judge the party’s decade in power.
