Aondoakaa Calls For Unity Amidst Renewed Attacks On Benue Communities

    Published on

Former Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Chief Michael Kaase Aondoakaa (SAN), has strongly condemned the renewed wave of violent attacks in Benue State, particularly in Gwer West, Makurdi, and Guma Local Government Areas.

Describing the attacks as “inhuman, and a direct assault on the peace and dignity of the Benue people,” Aondoakaa extended his heartfelt condolences to families affected by the violence and called for unity in the face of adversity.

“We must not allow our pain or anything to divide us. This is the time for unity across tribes, parties, and beliefs. We are one Benue, and together we must stand, defend, and rebuild.”

Aondoakaa made a passionate appeal to all sons and daughters of Benue, regardless of political affiliation, to join hands with the traditional institution and community leaders in tackling the growing insecurity. He emphasized that the role of traditional rulers and local leaders cannot be overemphasized at this critical time.

“Our traditional institution remains the soul of our communities. Their leadership, wisdom, and influence are vital in mobilizing grassroots vigilance, peacebuilding, and early conflict resolution.”

He urged the Federal and State Governments and security agencies to act swiftly and decisively to bring perpetrators to justice and ensure lasting peace in the region.

Aondoakaa reiterated that every Benue citizen, urban or rural has the right to safety, dignity, and a voice in their future.
