    Anambra School Under State Sanction For Monetizing Pupil’s Position

    Anambra State Government has placed one month sanction on the Blossom Fount School, Awka in the state capital for monetizing the election of the schools’ head pupil.

    Commissioner for Education, Prof. Ngozi Chuma-Udeh announced the sanction in a statement on Friday.

    She said the decision followed report alleging that the school collected the sum of N5,000 from pupils vying for position of head pupil in the school’s primary section.

    Chuma-Udeh described the act as selling the psyche of the children to the highest bidder from cradle, insisting that such was unacceptable under the Soludo-led administration.

    “You are selling the psyche of the children to the highest bidder from cradle and it is not acceptable to this government,” she said.

    The Commissioner said investigations were ongoing to ascertain how the school was being run.
