The Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission (ANSIEC) has announced that the ban on campaigns for the August 29, 2026, local government elections will be lifted on April 1.

In a statement issued in Awka, the Commission’s Commissioner for Information and Publicity, Chief Sir Tony Chinedu, said the move clears the way for all registered political parties in the state to begin electioneering activities.

Chief Chinedu urged political actors to conduct their campaigns with civility and orderliness, emphasizing the need for peaceful engagement throughout the period.

He also called on all parties to strictly adhere to the commission’s guidelines, stressing that compliance is key to ensuring a free, fair, and credible electoral process.

The commissioner took the opportunity to commend Governor Chukwuma Soludo on his inauguration for a second term in office, as well as for appointing competent individuals into key positions.

On the forthcoming Easter celebration, Chief Chinedu encouraged Christians to reflect on the significance of Christ’s death and resurrection, urging them to embrace values of sacrifice and renewal.
