Seventeen commissioners have taken their oaths of office to serve in the Benue State Executive Council.
The inauguration ceremony was performed Monday by Governor Hyacinth Alia at the old banquet hall of Government House Makurdi.
Out of the 17 commissioners, 10 are new appointees, while seven returned to their positions after a major shake-up by the governor about two months ago.
Alia during the inauguration charged the new commissioners to settle down quickly and use their professional and public service understanding to assist his administration deliver good governance to the people.
The governor reminded the new appointees that they were selected out of millions of others equally qualified and urged them to be people and development-driven.
He advised them to work with stakeholders and party supporters to ensure an easy victory for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2027.
Alia also tasked the new commissioners to work closely with their community people by spending weekends in their villages.
He warned that whosoever feels they cannot relate or share what they have with the people should resign before it is too late.
The governor lamented why some people in the state do not like or think about the development of the state and insisted that his administration is not ready to share money to few individuals but would instead continue to champion developmental programmes that will take care of market women, rural dwellers, orphans, widows, pensioners, civil servants, and the less privileged.
Responding on behalf of the new commissioners, Dennis Iyaghigba expressed appreciation to the governor for the honor done to them and promised to use the opportunity to serve and add value to the government.
