The duo of the Benue State Governor, Reverend Father Hyacinth Alia, and his immediate predecessor, Chief Samuel Ortom, have extended heartfelt condolences to the Senate Minority Leader, Senator Patrick Abba Moro, who lost his son and grandson within twenty hours.
Moro, who represents Benue South Senatorial District, lost his son, Peter Abba Moro Jnr, and a grandson, following a ghastly motor accident.
Alia, in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula, yesterday in Makurdi, described the loss of the two family members as painful and devastating.
He noted that the double tragedy would touch anyone who believes in humanity.
The cleric governor urged Moro, his family, the people of Benue South, and the entire state to accept the incident as the will of God, who “gives and takes away life.”
He equally prayed that God grant the departed sons’ eternal rest.
In a statement made available to journalists on Tuesday in Makurdi, Ortom noted that it is the most painful moment saying only God is capable of bringing solace to the father and entire family.
Ortom described the incident as a heartbreaking double tragedy that words can hardly express, and noted that the pain of losing two family members in such quick succession is beyond comprehension.
“This is indeed a moment of deep pain and sorrow for my brother and friend, Senator Abba Moro. No words are enough to console a father in this kind of situation. My heart goes out to him and the entire family. I pray that God, in His infinite mercy, will comfort them and grant the souls of the departed eternal rest,” he said.
He further prayed to the Almighty God to strengthen Moro and his loved ones, and grant them the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable losses.
