Akpabio warns Senator Ngwu at Bianca’s screening, “Forget her beauty”

On Wednesday, Nigerian Senate President Godswill Akpabio chastised fellow member Senator Osita Ngwu for referring to Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu as “beautiful.”

During Wednesday’s screening of the newly appointed ministers on the upper legislative chamber floor, Senator Osita Ngwu introduced Mrs. Ojukwu and called her attractive.

On Wednesday, Bianca read her credentials in front of the Senate and went through her screening on the Senate floor. The Senators then questioned her over her candidature for the position of Minister of State Foreign Affairs.

Ngwu, the senator for the Enugu West District, began by praising Bianca’s attractiveness when Akpabio opened the floor for questions, which drew criticism.

“Mr. President, the stunning candidate in front of us…” The legislator stated.

“Just stick to the resume,” Akpabio interrupted. Ignore the term “beautiful.” She did not mention her beauty on her resume.

Following a chuckle among the parliamentarians, Ngwu went on to praise the nominee’s qualifications and reputation.

Enyinnaya Abaribe, the senator for Abia South, also spoke, stating that there was no question about Biance’s competency and performance.

The “mother” of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, or APGA, was nominated as a minister by President Bola Tinubu, which Abaribe praised.

“A unity government and national integration have already begun by appointing an APGA member as a minister,” Abaribe stated.

After that, the nominee was requested to bow.
