President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, has expressed confidence in the All Progressives Congress (APC) securing victory in the forthcoming gubernatorial elections in Edo State.

Speaking at a South-South Zonal Party meeting in Calabar, Akpabio asserted that the APC will triumph over the incumbent People’s Democratic Party (PDP), whose candidate is Asue Ighodalo, backed by the current governor.

“We are going to defeat Obaseki,” Akpabio declared, referring to the incumbent governor. He conveyed optimism about the APC’s future, highlighting that the party is poised to gain significant influence in the South-South region.

Akpabio also reflected on the strategic importance of the region, stating, “God has enabled the zone to be on the table and centre of governance in the country.”
