Activist and political ally of Peter Obi, Aisha Yesufu, has dismissed reports claiming that she withdrew from the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) senatorial race for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Yesufu described reports suggesting that she had stepped down from the race as false and urged the public to disregard them.
The activist, who declared her interest in the FCT Senate seat on May 6 after joining the NDC from the African Democratic Congress (ADC), made the clarification amid reports that her senatorial bid had ended, following alleged internal party realignments.
Despite the controversy, Yesufu has continued grassroots engagements across the six area councils of the FCT — Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Bwari, Gwagwalada, Kuje, Abaji, and Kwali.
During the visits, she met with party officials, supporters, stakeholders and residents, thanking them for their support and encouraging greater political participation.
Speaking during the engagements, Yesufu expressed appreciation to those who have stood by her, noting that their support remains vital to her political journey.
She stressed that her commitment to accountability, good governance and citizen participation remains unwavering, adding that the quest for a better Nigeria must transcend individual ambitions.
According to her, the movement she represents has always been bigger than any one person and should remain focused on building a more inclusive and prosperous country.
