Abuja Electricity Distribution Company, AEDC, has announced a planned power outage for parts of Federal Capital Territory, FCT Abuja such as Lugbe, Airport Road, Gaduwa and surrounding communities on Saturday and Sunday following a request by the Federal Capital Development Authority.

This was obtained from a notice shared on its verified X account on Friday. The company explained that the exercise is part of ongoing road construction projects being carried out in the public interest. AEDC also explained that the electricity supply to the affected locations would remain interrupted throughout the duration of the work. The AEDC also solicited for the cooporation of customers in affacted areas, assuring that supply of power will be restored as soon as possible. “Supply will be restored upon completion of the exercise. We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused and appreciate your understanding,” the company stated. The AEDC, however, noted that the temporary disruption is necessary to allow the relocation of critical power infrastructure connected to the 33KV feeders H21 and H23, as well as the 11KV feeder H1A located within the Gaduwa District.
