The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has waded into the leadership crisis rocking its Adamawa State chapter, recognising Sadiq Dasin as the interim chairman.
Reports indicate that three individuals had been laying claim to the chairmanship, polarising the party between loyalists of former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, and those of Senator Aishatu Binani, while the incumbent chairman, Shehu Yohanna, insists he remains the substantive leader.
In a statement on Wednesday, ADC’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, said the party recognises Dasin as the legitimate interim chairman in line with the approval and guidelines of the National Working Committee (NWC).
“It has come to the notice of the national headquarters of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) that there appears to be a growing division within the party’s leadership in Adamawa State,” Abdullahi stated.
He explained that at its meeting on October 8, 2025, the NWC approved the establishment of interim executive committees to manage party affairs in the states. “After due investigations, the party considers the process supervised by the National Vice Chairman for the North-East, which produced Sadiq Dasin as interim chairman, to be in line with NWC’s approval and guidelines.”
The statement urged aggrieved members to embrace reconciliation and called on Dasin to extend a hand of fellowship to all factions.
“The party reaffirms its commitment to fairness, justice, and internal democracy but will not tolerate acts of indiscipline that could undermine ongoing efforts to build a strong and truly democratic party,” it added.
