ADC Chieftain Urges Obi, Atiku Supporters to Stop Attacking Each Other

    Published on

A member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Fabiyi Oladimeji, has said there is no justification for supporters of Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar to engage in attacks against one another.

Oladimeji made this known during an interview on Wednesday, where he stressed that both camps are pursuing the same objective.

According to him, since Peter Obi joined the ADC, public discourse has shifted away from party and coalition unity to sustained attacks on Atiku Abubakar, who is also a key figure within the opposition coalition.

“Nigeria is not governed by poetry but power. And power is not usually given to those who shout justice the loudest. It is secured by those who understand the dynamics,” he said.

Oladimeji noted that the ADC is home to several influential political figures, describing them as “principalities” within the party.

“We have two principalities in the ADC. Atiku Abubakar is a principality in his own right, while Peter Obi is also one. We also have the likes of Nasir El-Rufai and Rotimi Amaechi,” he stated.

He added that the current political manoeuvrings are not unusual and urged Nigerians to remain calm, expressing confidence in the party’s direction.

“We have seen this before. None of these developments is new. What I want to tell Nigerians is to keep calm. Something is going to work out, and that thing is the vehicle that will carry everyone along, and that is the ADC,” he said.

Oladimeji also commended the leadership of the party, describing ADC as being steered by experienced hands.

“Today, the ADC is being managed and driven by an experienced gentleman, David Mark. You cannot take that away from him, and the vision is very clear,” he added.

He acknowledged that political supporters are entitled to express their interests but insisted that internal hostility is unnecessary.

“The supporters of Peter Obi and those of Atiku who are making noise have the right to do so because politics is about interest. And I am glad that Atiku came out boldly to say, no, you don’t do this,” Oladimeji said.

He concluded by stressing that both groups are part of the same coalition with a shared mission.
