As a follow-up to sustained advocacy efforts by the State Advocacy Team (SAT) since April 2026, Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) implementing the GF/IHVN Integrated Community-Led Monitoring (CLM) Project conducted stakeholder advocacy visits in Jalingo LGA on 8 June 2026.
The team engaged Mr. Jallason D. Yuguda, Director of Planning, Taraba State AIDS Control Agency (TACA), on the stock-out of HIV test kits at Sabon Gida Health Clinic and Tudun Wada PHC, both in Donga LGA, as well as the inadequate supply of HIV test kits at Mayo-Lope PHCC in Lau LGA.
In a separate engagement, the team met with Dr. Ibrahim A. Musa, Programme Manager of the State Malaria Elimination Programme (SMEP), to discuss malaria commodity stock-outs, including ACTs and mRDTs at Galea MDG Clinic in Kurmi LGA and the lack of Routine ITN at Tampwa PHC in Takum LGA.
Speaking during the advocacy visits, the State Chairman of ACOMIN Taraba State, Alhaji Muhammed Tanko Danburam, emphasized the importance of a reliable health commodity supply chain in sustaining gains in the fight against HIV and malaria.
”The availability of essential health commodities is vital to effective HIV and malaria service delivery. We urge stakeholders to strengthen the supply chain system to ensure uninterrupted access to these life-saving commodities and sustain progress in the fight against HIV and malaria in Taraba State,”he said.
In response, Mr. Yuguda assured the team that the HIV testing commodities would be made available once funds are released. Similarly, Dr. Musa committed that ACTs and mRDTs would be prioritized during the next Last Mile Distribution (LMD) cycle scheduled before the end of June 2026.
