Accusations Against Ondo Deputy Governor, Aiyedatiwa, Over Protest

The Ondo Masses Solidarity Movement (MSM) has accused the embattled deputy governor of Ondo State, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, of being the alleged mastermind behind the recently aborted protest in the state. Earlier, we reported that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State organized a protest against the sealing of its secretariat. The secretariat’s closure followed a planned protest against the continued absence of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu after his medical vacation abroad.

Security personnel, including the Nigeria Police Force, Department of State Security, and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, had cordoned off the PDP secretariat early in the morning.

The Coordinator of MSM, Ogunyemi Jeremiah, claimed that the protest was orchestrated to incite crisis and disrupt the deputy governor’s impeachment process. Jeremiah alleged that Aiyedatiwa had been in contact with opposition parties and young people, encouraging them to take to the streets in protest.

The movement commended the security agencies for their swift response and expressed concern that the protest could have resulted in violence and damage to property. They emphasized that the planned protest did not serve the interests of the masses and called on Nigerians and the state’s residents to discourage the deputy governor from actions that might jeopardize the state’s peace and stability.
