    Abia Appoints Six New Commissioners; Governor Otti Issues Strong Anti-Corruption Warning

    Abia State has welcomed six new commissioners following their swearing-in ceremony. The appointees are Professor Ogbonnaya Uche, Mr. David U. Kalu, Kingsley Chibueze Nwokocha, Dr. Uwaoma Ukandu, Mrs. Queen Ijeoma Aghukwa, and Ubochi Goodluck Chinedu.

    Governor Alex Otti, addressing the new commissioners after their oath-taking, emphasized the importance of aligning with his development agenda and delivering results. He highlighted the need for excellence and warned that mediocrity would not be tolerated.

    Otti praised the new appointments as part of a strategic move to enhance service delivery and public sector governance. He reiterated his administration’s commitment to rejecting corrupt practices and cronyism, stressing a zero-tolerance policy towards corruption.

    To improve governance, Otti announced plans for a minor restructuring of ministries, aimed at increasing their efficiency and responsiveness. Additionally, he revealed the upcoming establishment of the Greater Ohafia Development Authority to focus on Abia North’s development.

    Dr. Queen Ijeoma Aghukwa, speaking on behalf of her fellow appointees, expressed gratitude for the opportunity and pledged to work diligently to advance the state’s progress.
