The Coalition of Registered Political Parties (CRPP), known for its criticism of government policies in Edo State, has rebranded as Peoples Assembly for Good Governance (PAGG).
The group said the change followed alleged molestation by the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC).
According to a statement signed by PAGG Chairman, Dr Samson Isibor, and General Secretary, Hon Chukwuemeka Nkama, the decision was prompted by a petition against the CRPP name allegedly sponsored by IPAC to the Department of State Services (DSS), in Edo State.
”The CRPP has now restructured and re-christened ‘Peoples’ Assembly for Good Governance’ (PAGG) due to a sponsored petition against our CRPP name by one IPAC organization to the DSS, Edo State,” the statement said.
The group said the CRPP Executive Council resolved to adopt the new name to meet the expectations of its supporters and the masses of Edo State.
”We shall continue to exercise the freedom of association as enshrined in the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended,” it added.
The statement said the group had received calls from sympathisers concerned about its silence on current issues in Edo and Nigeria, assuring that it would not relent in its advocacy.
”We assure Edo people that we will never let you down, instead our advocacy for the betterment of Edo people through good governance will be pursued vigorously,” it said.
The PAGG leaders said the group’s focus remains on ensuring Edo moves forward and takes its rightful place among developed states.
They decried what he described as underdevelopment and non-performance by the Governor Monday Okpebholo administration, particularly the delayed overhead bridges project promised for completion since April 2026, which they said has caused hardship to motorists.
The PAGG also lamented the deplorable state of the Benin-Lagos Expressway, especially the S&T axis in Ugbowo, and the high cost of living, saying economic activities in the state are grounded despite promises to use federal might to fix federal roads.
”We will liberate Edo state from the clutches of the grip this perpetual so called leaders whose main purpose is self-aggrandizement for themselves, families and accolades,” the leaders stated.
