‎Some parts of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) experienced darkness for some time on Saturday, August 1.

‎The temporal disruption occurred in Maitama, Mpape, and parts of Jahi in Abuja.
‎
‎The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) explained that the disruption was due to maintenance work at its Katampe Transmission Substation.
‎
‎TCN’s General Manager, Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, said the disruption resulted in a temporary reduction in bulk electricity load from the substation.
‎
‎The company said its maintenance crew worked to load a newly installed 300MVA, 330/132/33kv power transformer at the substation between 10:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.
‎
‎The reduction affected only a few areas in Abuja.
‎
‎“The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) will be unable to offtake power for onward distribution to Maitama, Mpape and parts of Jahi only for the stated period,” she said.
‎
‎Ms Mbah apologised for any inconvenience the maintenance would cause electricity consumers in the affected areas.
