Students across various tertiary institutions in Nigeria have expressed excitement and appreciation following the receipt of their monthly upkeep allowances from the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND).

The disbursement, which forms part of the Federal Government’s student loan programme, has continued to ease the financial burden on beneficiaries by helping them meet essential living expenses while pursuing their academic studies.
Many students described the monthly upkeep payment as timely and impactful, noting that it has enabled them to pay for transportation, feeding, learning materials, internet subscriptions, and other day-to-day necessities.

Some beneficiaries hailed NELFUND for its transparency and consistency in the disbursement process, describing the initiative as a life-changing intervention that has restored hope to thousands of students from low- and middle-income families.

Several students also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration and The Managing Director/CEO of NELFUND Mr. Akintunde Sawyerr for introducing the scheme, stating that the support has allowed them to focus more on their studies instead of worrying about financial challenges.
They called on eligible students who are yet to apply to take advantage of the programme, while urging NELFUND to sustain the prompt payment of both institutional fees and monthly upkeep allowances to ensure continued access to quality education.
The Nigerian Education Loan Fund remains committed to expanding access to higher education by providing financial support to eligible Nigerian students, reinforcing the government’s resolve to ensure that no qualified student is denied education because of financial constraints
