The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC( has questioned two prominent supporters of Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, over allegations of naira abuse.
The activists, Peter Akah, popularly known as ‘Peter for Nigeria’, and Precious Oruche, also known as ‘Mama Pee’, were interrogated at the EFCC headquarters in Abuja on Wednesday.
Their lawyer, Inibehe Effiong, who disclosed this in a statement on Thursday, said the commission had invited the duo through separate letters dated June 24, asking them to report on July 6, 2026.
The date was later rescheduled to July 15 after the legal team told the commission that the activists would not be available on the earlier date.
Effiong said he accompanied both Akah and Oruche to the EFCC office, where they answered questions from investigators for several hours before being released.
On the allegations, the lawyer explained that the money seen in the video under investigation was not real currency.
”Our clients clarified that what was referenced were prop money used for entertainment purposes and not naira notes,” Effiong stated.
He commended the EFCC for professionalism during the interrogation and assured that the activists are “in high spirits,” adding that they would return for further interactions as investigations continue.
