    Gunmen abduct principal, Ad-hoc staff, four students writing NECO exam. In Kogi -Police

    The Kogi State Police Command has confirmed the abduction of a school principal, Ad-hoc staff and four students writing the ongoing National Examination Council,NECO at Government Secondary School, Odo-Ekina in Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi state .

     

    The incident was said to have occurred on Tuesday, 14th July 2026, at about 5:25 p.m., came under attack while students were writing their NECO examination.

     

    A statement issued on Wednesday by the Command’s spokesperson ASP Oyiza Salisu Afusat stated that “During the incident, four students, the school principal, and one NECO ad hoc staff were abducted by the attackers.

     

    “A combined team of the Police and other security agencies immediately launched a search-and-rescue operation and is currently on the trail of the assailants. So far, one of the abducted students has been rescued, while efforts are ongoing to secure the safe rescue of the remaining victims and apprehend the perpetrators”. Afusat noted.

     

    She said that the Commissioner of Police, Kogi State Command, CP Naziru Bello Kankarofi, psc, mni, the Brigade Commander, the State security adviser to the Governor of Kogi state, are currently en route to the scene for an on-the-spot assessment.

     

    “A more detailed press release will be issued as soon as additional verified information becomes available”. She said.
