The City Boy Movement (CBM) has announced plans to mobilise at least 10 million young voters in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election in the 2027 general elections.
The target was unveiled during the movement’s three-day strategic retreat in Abuja, where members assessed organisational progress, strengthened internal structures and mapped out a nationwide mobilisation strategy.
Speaking at the event, the Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, called on young Nigerians to take a more active role in governance and nation-building, saying the time had come for the voices of youth to be heard at the centre of national decision-making.
”It is time for everyone in this country to hear the voice of the youth,” the minister said, while commending CBM for promoting civic participation and national unity among young people.
Also speaking, the Co-Patron of the movement, Kashim Shettima Jr., described the City Boy Movement as the largest youth political movement in Africa, and urged members to remain united and focused ahead of future political engagements.
Shettima Jr. charged members to consolidate the movement’s grassroots structures across the 36 states and the FCT to ensure massive participation of young people in the electoral process.
According to the organisers, the retreat was aimed at evaluating the group’s achievements, strengthening its internal coordination and preparing members for full-scale mobilisation as political activities intensify ahead of 2027.
The CBM leadership said the 10 million vote target reflects its commitment to ensuring that Nigerian youths play a decisive role in determining the outcome of the next general elections.
The movement reaffirmed its support for President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda and pledged to deploy both digital platforms and grassroots campaigns to reach young voters in every local government area.
With the retreat concluded, CBM said state chapters are expected to immediately begin voter education, sensitisation and recruitment drives across the country.
