Residents of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), who gathered for the official commissioning of the Water Supply Network to Karu Satellite Town on Monday, at Kurudu Community, along Karu-Karishi Road, have expressed frustration at the delay of the event.
Daily NewsCraft reports that the event was scheduled to commence by 12 noon.
However, there was no sign of the commissioning event starting by 2 pm.
Although the security operatives have already positioned themselves at strategic positions around the venue.
The only interesting activity at the venue of the event was the lively Graceful Band from Lugbe which entertained the crowd with melodies from their drums and trumpets for more than one hour.
They were invited to the programme by the Chairman of the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Christopher Zakka Maikalangu.
Speaking on her frustration, Sarah Lash, said that she was disappointed at how long it was taking the FCT Minister, Barr Nyesom Wike, and his team to arrive for the commissioning event.
”Honestly, I am very disappointed with the whole arrangement. This is not the way things are done. How can they bring out people from their homes and businesses, only for them to be nowhere around here,” she said.
Timothy Audu said that they were taken for granted.
”Just look at how people are scattered like they are fools waiting for a god! Serious people don’t take others for granted. But it is looking like the other way round now. I’m just pissed off with the whole thing,” he said.
A staff of the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA), who pleaded anonymity, hinted the programme was shifted to 4 pm.
”My Oga just told me that the time is 4 o’clock – no more 12,” the person said, adding that the reason for shifting the time was not made known.
Daily NewsCraft gathered that idea behind the time for the commissioning of any project is determined by the Vice President, Senator Sheriff Shettima.
”You know, the whole thing is under the Vice President. It is the time he tells Wike that the event will hold is when they will come,” the source said.
Until the main people behind the commissioning of the water supply network come, people are scattered in different groups waiting for the arrival of Shettima, Wike, and their teams.
