Tunisia’s miserable World Cup campaigns continued as they were unable to progress from the group stage, following their second straight defeat against Japan by 0-4.
The Carthage Eagles, who had already lost 5-1 to Sweden in their opening Group F match, were condemned to an early exit after failing to pick up a single point from their first two games.
Daily NewsCraft reports that have now competed in seven FIFA World Cup (1978, 1998, 2002, 2006, 2018, 2022, and 2026) editions. But the four-time African champions are yet to progress beyond the group stage of the tournament.
No African nation has appeared more times at the tournament without reaching the knockout rounds.
Tunisia’s miserable World Cup woes now means that they join Haiti and Türkiye as the early exits from the ongoing 2026 FIFA World Cup.
With a maximum of three points still available, the African nation can no longer reach the Round of 32.
In Philadelphia, five-time champions, Brazil, cruised to a 3-0 victory over Haiti in Group C, confirming the Caribbean nation’s elimination.
The result left Haiti bottom of Group C, with zero points from two matches, and a goal difference of -4. Their final group game against Morocco on June 24 will now be a dead rubber.
In Group D, Türkiye suffered a 1-0 defeat to Paraguay at the San Francisco Bay Area Stadium, and joined Haiti in exiting the tournament.
The loss left Türkiye with two defeats from two games and no points, confirming their elimination with one match still to play.
