The leadership crisis rocking the Kogi State Chapter of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has assumed s new dimension as the newly sworn in Chairman,Muhammad Sanni Gambo accused Mr. Enemona Anyebe, of impersonation and disobedience to a court judgment.

However, Enemona Anyebe who was the chairman until last month when a Federal High court filled in favour of Gambo responded saying “it was Mohammed Sani Gambo that was impersonating as there was a subsisting stay of execution order following the ruling.”

In a letter to the Kogi State Commissioner of Police, Gambo’s lawyers alleged that Anyebe is falsely claiming to be the chairman of the PDP, Kogi State Chapter, despite being lawfully removed from office by a Federal High Court in Lokoja on November 10, 2025.

“The court ruling, which has been fully implemented by the PDP at both state and national levels, recognized Gambo as the substantive state chairman. Anyebe’s actions are considered a breach of peace and an affront to the authority of the courts and the rule of law.”

Gambo’s lawyers requested the police to investigate and restrain Anyebe from further parading himself as chairman, citing video evidence of the impersonation.

The police have been asked to take necessary steps to prevent further acts that could cause a breach of peace and public order

In a petition to the Kogis state police command, the lawyer to Mohammed Sani Gambo,Emeje Aruwa said Enemona Anyebe was lawfully removed from office as Chairman of the PDP, Kogi State
Chapter vide the judgment of the Federal High Court, Lokoja, following his willful disobedience to the valid Order of the Kogi State High Court.

“The said judgment has since been fully
implemented by the Peoples Democratic Party at both the State and National levels, leading to the recognition and swearing-in of our client, Hon. Mohammed Sani Gambo, as the substantive State Chairman.

Mr. Enemona Anyebe, is fully aware of the said judgment and its legal consequences, having been a party to the processes that culminated in his removal.

Despite the foregoing, on the 10th day of December, 2025, at a political event held at Shehu Yar’Adua House, Abuja, Mr. Enemona Anyebe openly and publicly paraded himself and acted as
the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Kogi State Chapter. There is video evidence of this act of impersonation.

He has continued to impersonate the person and office of Chairman, PDP
Kogi State willfully despite the subsisting judgment of a competent Court.

The actions of Mr. Enemona Anyebe amount to Criminal impersonation and it is a conduct likely to cause breach of the peace. It is an act of intentional misrepresentation capable of misleading party members, security agencies, and the general public and an affront to the authority of the
courts and the rule of law.

His continued false claim to the office of Chairman of PDP in Kogi State has already generated tension, confusion, and rivalry within the party, with grave potential
to escalate into public disorder and security breaches within Kogi State.

We are constrained to bring this matter to your attention to forestall a breakdown of law and order
and to protect the integrity of lawful authority. Accordingly, we respectfully request the Commissioner of Police to Invite and investigate Mr. Enemona Anyebe for criminal impersonation and related offences. Warn and restrain him from further parading himself as Chairman of the PDP, Kogi State Chapter, Take any other steps deemed necessary to prevent further acts capable of causing breach of the peace and public order.

“We are prepared to make available certified true copies of the relevant court judgments, party correspondence, and other documentary evidence to aid your investigation. The counsel wrote.

However, Anyebe in a response to our correspondents enquiry about the dispute,he said that it was Gambo that is impersonating.

“He is the one parading himself as Chairman. Yes there was a court ruling for which notice of appeal and motion for stay of execution has been filed and served on him. By rule, that stays the execution of the judgment untill determined.” Anyebe said.
