Osun 2026: Accord Party reaffirms Adeleke, amid rival candidacy

    Published on

The South-West stakeholders of the Accord Party have reaffirmed the emergence of Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, as the party’s governorship candidate for the 2026 election and endorsed him as the party’s national leader.

The endorsement followed a stakeholders’ meeting held in Ibadan, Oyo State, and chaired by the party’s National Vice Chairman, Mogaji Paul Igbinsola.

The meeting was attended by state chairmen from across the South-West, including Engr. Raji Waheed (Oyo), Dr. Oyedamola Babarinde (Ekiti), Hon. Azeez Abimbola Falaja (Ogun), Chief (Mrs.) Balogun Titilayo (Ondo), and Mr. Dolapo Tolulope (Osun).

Addressing journalists after the meeting, Igbinsola said the two factions within the party had resolved their differences and unanimously endorsed Adeleke’s candidacy.

“The two warring factions under the national leadership of Rev’d John Adeniyi and Nduibem Maxwell have endorsed the candidacy of Gov. Ademola Adeleke for the 2026 governorship election in Osun State.

“We have met, resolved our differences, and agreed to collectively support the candidacy of Ademola Adeleke to fly the ticket of the Accord Party,” he said.

He explained that Adeleke’s defection from the PDP automatically made him the national leader of the Accord Party in line with the party’s constitution.

Igbinsola also disowned Segun Fanibe, describing him as a former chairman of the party in Osun State between 2016 and 2018 who had since defected to the APC.

“Any kangaroo primary organised by Fanibe is null and void,” he declared.
